Manolo Blahnik Shoes, Blessed By Two Icons (and Anna Wintour Does Smile)

These Manolo Blahnik shoes were purchased at the CFDA 7th on Sale fundraiser. This style was also one of the pairs chosen to represent Blahnik's career as a designer in the Metropolitan Museum of New York's Costume Institute collection. (see link  here )  The sale marked the return of a legendary shopping and fundrasing event (money went to fight HIV and AIDS).  Although we did not attend the gala, my husband and I were lucky to get tickets to the event open to the public.  The line into the Armory building wrapped around the block but, inside, we were treated to the fashion world's version of the "Pure Imagination" scene from "Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory."  Perfumes and sunglasses to the right, books and trinkets to the left, and racks and racks of designer clothes and shoes.  My husband encouraged me to try on this pair of shoes, which fit 7.5 feet perfectly, but something else really moved me to buy them.  As I stood to stand in the shoes, I noticed two women watching me, just a few feet away.  Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenberg were side by side, arms crossed and grinning.  Perhaps they approved of my man, maybe they were giddy from the success of the event, but when I returned their smile, they didn't slow their glow.  So that was it, the fashion world felt warm and friendly and the shoes were blessed by style icons- how could I put them down?

They have been kept in the glass case of an armoire ever since, as good luck charms, but never worn.  It feels like the right time to share these shoes with someone who would not only appreciate their detail and design but give them the night out they deserve.  Find them on the nyeurostyle4ever store on eBay.
